The Background Briefs offered below are intended as “fire starters” for a national conversation regarding the evidence behind residency training and future practice needs. These are intended to inform this discussion; support identifying answers for the series of Core Questions; and to contribute to the ACGME Writing Group efforts to revise the major guidelines for accreditation of Family Medicine residents.
